Searching for "references header" in the Gmail Help Discussion group brings up plenty of hits, all of which are relegated to a 'past discussions' thread which is read only. However I'm starting to think that that particular group (and it's subgroups) are little more than a concentration camp for newbies. The most positive responses simply direct people to the following page: and I encourage anyone, gmail user or not, to please go there and encourage Gmail to 'Do the Right Thing'(tm). https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_suggest/ Last of hall here's my favourite post from 'past discussions': such an unassuming little jibe. Sadly it never even got a reply. http://groups.google.com/group/Gmail-Past-discussions/browse_thread/thread/31ec545c76fc306b > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: pjam > Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2005 15:15:44 -0000 > Subject: about conversation > To: Anonymous > > When i recieve 2 mails that have same subject header, > Ive found that Gmail puts the mails into one conversation. > Is it a good behavior? > Doesn't Gmail trust In-Reply-To header and References header? > > Thankyou for reading my poor english. > pjam.
