Naw, no moderation bit for that one. However, I will keep the top posting complaints--I also try to mention trimming that is insufficient. The thing is that I'm so busy these days, I often don't follow the list and only react when I get an email from someone asking me to point it out. Feel free to do so--that's not sarcastic. If you feel someone isn't trimming sufficiently, drop me an email and, depending upon the user, I either send them a very polite private email or post on the list. (However, I don't change the subject line in those cases. The reason, as I explained is so that the person who made the mistake is more likely to read it.) The thing that amuses me though is that you're the one who always reacts when I mention it, but you never do it yourself. :) > > My main complaint here is that the impression I get, from the responses > to top posting, is that massive quotes are ok, so long as you put your > response at the bottom of them rather than the top. Wow. I'm not sure how you got that impression. I will do my best to rectify that in the future. (Quick aside to Josh--I know you said that this discussion should go to tlug-admin, but honestly, I feel in this case that it's good members see it--we get many new people, and as Linux becomes easier to use, more of them have developed bad netiquette habits.) > > > Some time ago, I received special dispensation, as a few of the long > > time members said that my Buffy quotes amuse them. > > My personal opinion on this aside, I'm not convinced it's a good idea > for list moderators to be setting a bad example by regularly violating > the rules of the list. I don't think I was a mod at the time. However, it's a valid point. If my Buffy quotes go to more than 4 lines, I'll start deleting them. Ah, this one was 4 lines. :) -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Buffy: She's playing you. She tried to kill you. Angel: That was just. . . That was just a cry for help. Buffy: A cry for help is when you say Help in a loud voice.
