Re: [tlug] USB connection to scanner lost

Maxime,

Thank you for responding.
Reinstall /ubuntu-desktop/ package
I was just about to report that this had done the trick. I reinstalled ubuntu-desktop and it went and grabbed a long list of applications.

Before booting into my previous kernel, I tried it out and my scanner just to see if there was any change. And it successfully got a preview image.

But then I made a second attempt at scanning, and it died again. It died a little differently, though. When I tried to get a preview or a scan, Xsane would wait and wait and wait, and then eventually it gives me a window saying "The operation was cancelled", even though I didn't cancel it.

Now that's what it does every time.

So then I tried booting back into my old kernel, but it was the same deal.

I tried reinstalling ubuntu-desktop yet again. But this time it didn't go and grab any more files, it just reinstalled itself alone. And nothing changed with the scanner.

It seemed so briefly like reinstalling ubuntu-desktop made a difference. But now whatever it solved seems to have failed again.

I'm actually starting to wonder if somehow by coincidence my scanner is broken.
