Well having gone from a kuro box running a very optimized version of 
Gentoo Linux to a bottom of the line IBM Netvista A30 with 1.6GHz 
Celeron.  I would have to say the PC is a lot faster, and all up with 2G 
of added RAM cost me 20,000.  It only has 60G of HD but I will be 
replacing that with a pair of Seagate 1T drives when they drop below 
10,000yen.
