Is this the original Smith, or a copy? ;) I understand your point completely, which is why I specifically said that I personally have no right to ask Jim to alter his standards-compliant behaviour because I choose to use Gmail. At the same time, as Ian pointed out, many TLUGgers are not living in a perfect world, and some tradeoffs have to be made. I personally like the fact that Gmail keeps all of my mail centralised and backed up. That is much easier on me. However, I now have to accept the deficiencies of the Gmail client (at least, until I finally get around to writing WebMutt). Jim can do what he pleases, I was just suggesting that more than a few TLUGgers might appreciate threads with a consistent subject line. As I pointed out, if Jim chooses to continue his posting style (and I know that this is his style, because I know him from another list), those of us with brain-damaged MUAs can always resort to using the TLUG list archives. -Josh
