I said to boot Tom's Root Boot, not Knoppix. 

All that I said about Knoppix is that it should be a standard 
tool that you have laying around waiting for a situation like this. 

I mention both Tom's Root Boot and Knoppix because each has 
special capabilities that the other does not. 
In this case, you need to use Tom's Root Boot, not Knoppix. 
Both are standard tools that you should have 
laying around waiting for a situation like this.

Indeed. Perhaps you should investigate Tom's Root Boot 
instead of talking about Knoppix and CD drives.
