Since sysctl was implemented you "systemctl suspend" to suspend from command line.  On my other machines that works fine.  Even on the previous generation (Which is what I'm working from at the moment) it also works fine -- same OS, same UI.  This is Ubuntu 24.0.1 and Mate which I'm pretty sure use Wayland. 

On the problem machine I have ssh up   Suspend sends a "The system will suspend now!" message and the screen goes blank then comes right back.  It also interestingly doesn't log the ssh session out.

*shrug* 🙂

I need to dig into this more (hopefully today but...).  I want to look over the logs a bit more and Darren suggested turning off ACPI in the kernel.  I want to see what that does.  At least I h
