Re: [tlug] linux installed on lenovo ideapad
The other big thing to look at is the graphics driver, as that it tied
into the suspend process. I had trouble with the nvidia one (it is on my
list to go back and try again in case a recent update has fixed the
bug), so have been using the nouveau one. Each has their own quirks.
Expanding on this, the suspend problem I have is quite specific, it
won't suspend if:
Nouveau driver
+ second monitor plugged in (configured for side-by-side, not mirror)
+ closing laptop lid
No problems if no external monitor.
Using suspend key (or suspend from the menu, or commandline) is fine.
nvidia-535 driver can't control screen brightness but does
suspend/resume okay. nvidia-545 can't control screen brightness and
consistently fails to resume after suspend. I've yet to try nvidia-550.
When I poked around in the logs it seems like when the lid is shut it
puts screen 0 to sleep but suspend sees screen 1 is still awake so
decides to stay awake.
I didn't know how to fix that, so I've just got in the habit of pressing
suspend before I close the lid.
