one of the reasons we use Thunderbird in our school is that you can move a
profile not just between machines or accounts, but between OS. So I can
migrate people from Win to Lin and they have their e-mail all ready to go
exactly the way they left it on their old machine. I moved one from win to
mac recently also.

what scares me about t-bird is that twice I have suffered inbox
corruption. They recommend compressing large folders, but even after that
I was unable to restore my inbox when I migrated server last summer.
Luckily it was mine and not the boss'

funny thing is I didn't miss all that lost mail at all. are you sure you
don't like kmail expiring stuff ;)
