Unless you have been given permission to copy it, or are copying it under circumstances where you can argue it's fair use (usually only quoting a part of the article), yes, it's a violation.

Nobody is claiming ownership of the intellectual property that is the
article.

How do you know that? Under the Berne convention, to which most countries are aligned, you need not make any explicit claim; just having written the article is implicit (and valid) claim that you own the copyright.
