And this is precisely my point. I have to decide to trust that
"factual" statements Steve makes about economics are correct, or spend
lots of time fact-checking. And that "lots of time" may well be
measured in years.
Not because he is a professor in economic. We can believe or not.
I remember that when I posted a question about security of /dev/[u]random,
Steve has pointed me to some references, said "They will keep you busy for a while".
I know he was true. That /dev/random was so complicated to me and I didn't have time
to dig more into it. Then I keep silient.


The same situations happens when someone join a thread with Steve.
We just don't have the same background like him.
It is a two-way street, though; if Steve asserts his expertise, he has
an obligation to make his argument accessible to non-experts if he
wants a discussion to arise.

I don't think Steve has time to explain. It is our job to read and catch up with him.
