I've done installs of Kubuntu 7.04 both as an upgrade and also as a
new install and the upgrades took hours and hours and hours to finish,
but the clean installs were speedy and didn't take much time to
download things.  One thing I did notice on one test machine though,
is how selecting too many extra applications can cause the update to
hang.  On that machine (although it still worked),  it effectively
shut down any further updating of any kind.  I'm sure there was some
way of fixing that, but I just trashed everything and did a clean
install again and then added things in small batches.
