If he has 0750 or 0770, he might.  Some apps/OSes don't care, but for
others it's gotta be "turtles *all* the way down, young man!"

Dave, you could try "chmod ~ 0771".  That lets Apache (and anybody
else, for that matter) traverse (via `cd') your home directory, but
not read it.
