[tlug] installing Ubuntu on Panasonic CF-R4

I installed  ubuntu-7.04 or "Feisty Fawn" on my Toshiba without a hitch.
(Wiping the hard drive clean etc..) Works great, but Toshiba too  
heavy to carry around.

I have a Panasonic CF-R4, and have been trying to install ubuntu-7.04
or "Feisty Fawn" on it, with no luck so far.

*Note: I do not want to erase the XP or the recovery section (orders  
from no.2).
(It does not come with a back up CD, as recovery is installed on the  
hard drive)

I have used the r4 setup Utility to partition the Harddrive,
and re-installed XP on partition 1.
I have also burned a copy of
ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso
to a CD and am using that to try to install Ubuntu on partition 2.
(Is that the correct version for the CF-R4?)

Booting up from the CD works. I click on the install Icon,
and the install procedure starts.

In the partition part, I choose Manual, and
double-click partition 2 (/dev/sda2) and change Type to ext3,
register it, then choose partition 2 (/dev/sda2)
then click the forward button to go to the next stage...

which is where I hit the proverbial brick wall...
and get this error message:

No root file system is defined
Please correct this from the partitioning menu.

I don't see anything labeled as the partitioning menu.

I double click on /dev/sda2 and can change the mount point (?) to
/, /boot, /dev/sda,  /etc....
but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas on how to get past this?
