Figuring the odds, there is always a chance of getting a bad hard drive out of a batch. But having said that, I have had a good run with my current batch of Hitachi hard drives. As for hard drive speeds, hmm... You'll probably only notice the difference when starting up and launching programs, but why bother if you're only doing text editing, or web surfing. But then it's your money, spend it as you like. ;-) As for heat, it depends on your laptop. I haven't had any problems with my IBM laptops when using 7200RPM drives. --vic
