Hi, I need some advice as my laptop's HD seems to have gone to Nirvana (as soon as it starts spinning it makes a lot of noise). Now I have to decide what to get for the laptop. My local dealer has Samsung and IBM disks on stock (I wanted to get an 80GB 5400 RPM). Does anybody has (good or bad) experiences with such HDs? Does it make sense to go to 7200 RPM -- I heard they use more power and thus make battery life a bit shorter. Is the speed jump enough to justify that (I know -- that depends on the applications I am using. Well - I do a lot of latex on that machine, that's the only thing I could imagine right now that would gain from 7200, besides booting the machine). What about heat? Can that be a problem. Thanks in advance, Gunar. ps.: if you like to recommend other HD's please go ahead. I was wondering about Hitachi's 80GB 2.5" HD for example. -- Telefonieren Sie schon oder sparen Sie noch?
