As I wrote in my post, the leading translator is Hiro Yamagata.
Eric's Japanese is limited to "sho-dan, ni-dan, san-dan, ..." and
"kenjuu banzai!" as far as I know.  (Yes, he's a martial arts fanatic
and gun nut.)  The part about "leading translator" needs to be
interpolated somewhere between "founder of the EDICT project" and the
"legion of knowledgeable people".
