Hmmmmm, of course I respect your opinion, but I won't bite and go down
this thread.

I know that what I thought I knew about China has completely changed
from living "here" (since I'm not in the mainland) the last several
years.  Overseas news isn't wrong, but they merely scratch the
surface.

Debating about the situation there with someone who is looking from
the outside is perhaps not going to get us anywhere.  And, I do work
for a publicly funded institute and this mailing list is publicly
indexed.  Sadly, that is something that is on my mind every time I
write in a public forum.  Am I paranoid?  Maybe...but it is much
easier to look at the situation from the outside.  ;-(  I'm of course
safe as long as I remain a small potato...
