By that I'm assuming you meant the book rather than the movies, right?
LOTR is one of my all-time favourite books, and while Peter Jackson
certainly did a good job, there are parts that I found were glossed over in
almost irreverent speed. The whole "Scouring the Shire" chapter was, IMO, an
important part of the story, yet it was missing altogether from the movie.
