Stephen asked me to show my .config file. if I still have it. Well, I do and here it is. My computer is a laptop, Sharp Mebius A455. * while I have your attention, I have two questions: -- Is there a good word-counting software for Linux? I've been looking but haven't found one yet. -- I have sendmail/fetchmail/procmail configured and things usually run pretty normally. two problems have been occurring, however. the first is sometimes an incoming mail message will cause an error (something having to do with improper SMTP - I'll have to jot it down properly next time). As a result, I don't get to see that message in the inbox, so I can only imagine (and hope) that it wasn't something important. The other thing that is happening is, over time, my mqueue directory starts filling with email, apparently outgoing mail that didn't make it out. I have sendmail set to "deferred" so it should be sending everything out to the host... how to get it to do that and how to prevent that unsightly buildup in the mqueue directory? These are the relevant parts of /etc/sendmail.cf . # maximum message size #O MaxMessageSize=1000000 # delivery mode O DeliveryMode=deferred # # Alias for this host Cw localhost que.buenahonda.org # Virtual email domain # who I masquerade as (null for no masquerading) DMbuenahonda.org # Smart host DS # Use this mailer to reach the Smart host DNmail.gol.com # Central host for local mail DH # class L: names that should be delivered locally, even if we have a relay CLroot # class E: names that should be exposed as from this host, even if we masquerade CEroot # Trust users Troot Tdaemon btw, I used to like using QPS, a gui which displays the processes including each outgoing mail message. I can't get QPS to run on my current system (even after rebuilding); is there anything else that will show me what's going on when it's going on? Couldn't get wordperfect to run on this system either (segmentation fault) even after rebuilding. rebuilding was a lot of fun; during the process /var/tmp was filled with about 2G of stuff. but that's another story. here's the .config file: #
