What kind of words? `wc' is a standard Unix word counting program.  Do 
you need something more?

Please post the error message.

You can wake sendmail up as necessary with

/usr/lib/sendmail -q

That'll flush the queue.  You can put this in your /etc/ppp/ip-up
script if using dial-up, so the queue is flushed when your IP
connection to your ISP is established.
