Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm kind of interested in understanding how the kernel works; I think I know a respectable amount about various parts of it (found a buglet in vmalloc.c about 2 months back that still isn't patched, but soon will be). So I guess in the future I may post a few questions / comments here, and see what happens. I would post to the kernel list, which I subscribe too, but I rather suspect my stuff would be unwelcome and too "why was is done this way", or "what does this do" for that list most of the time.
