If you installed everything, check out /usr/doc/HTML/... something or
another,
or /usr/doc/HOWTO/...  It should already be on your hard drive, along
with a
bunch of other useful doc's that will be usefull in the future.

Umm, if the  web page has a section on just getting your mail via a
'normal'
channel, I'd make sure that works first.  If you have netscape mail on
the
machine your telnetting from, the pop section in the setup is very easy
to 
understand.  If not, the mail program pine also handles getting e-mail
via
pop (and imap?), so try looking into how to setup that.

Are you (or anybody else here) really that worried about using an
unencryted 
link to their relatively local mail server?  It would seem to me that
the
weak link would be the server itself, or the outside world.
