I hope you mean "I don't mean _merely_ Unicode."  Unicode is essential
as one relatively minor part of the whole system.  Hobson's horse.
(Of course I prefer UCS-4!  But I'm an internationalist; UCS-2 aka
Unicode is a necessary intermediary step up from the current setup.)
