I'm not sure what Jonathan means by 1:1, but you can change the ratio of speed/distance. From the man page: "The mouse, or whatever pointer the machine is connected to, will go `acceleration' times as fast when it travels more than `threshold' pixels in a short time." Maybe if you mess around with this aspect of xset m 1 4 ( the default) you'll reach satori :) HTH Jim S. Long sig. follows. Read it if you wish. If you don't, that's OK - it has nothing to do with Linux... ---------------------------------- Jim Schweizer <schweiz@example.com> There once was an acolyte from Kochi. Given any task he concentrated with the greatest gravity. When the roshi asked, "Why are you working so earnestly?" he answered, "To attain satori. That is why I'm here." The roshi replied, "I see." Life continued. And although the acolyte concentrate so earnestly on thinking of nothing that sweat poured off his brow, nothing happened. Finally, he went to see the roshi and said, "Even though I meditate so long, so diligently, so thoroughly, nothing occurs." The roshi answered, "I see." "What should I do?" the acolyte pleaded. "You should go home. You are wasting your time here." the roshi stated. "Let me explain. Zen does not culminate in satori. It is not a goal that one works toward. Zen is sufficient without that. This is because it is a means without an end. In this way, it can be said to be like life. Life, this life, our life, anyone's life has no goal. Rather, one lives. In the same way, one should meditate. This meditation is its own goal. It is not a process leading to something. It is living. The reason you are wasting your time is because you are unaware of this." The crushed acolyte withdrew. He did not, however, go home. Whether he attained satori or not is unknown. In any event, it has nothing to do with this story. http://www1.harenet.or.jp/~schweiz/ ---------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: 17 July, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Meeting: 8 August, Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate 12:30 featuring Linux on multiple platforms: i386, Sparc, PA-Risc, Amiga, SGI, Alpha, PalmPilot, ... -------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp
