Did `rpm -i'; under the (fallacious, see below) assumption the man
page can be trusted the -vh are irrelevant to the semantics of the
operation.

    Jim> cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS

Did that.

    Jim> rpm -bp gimp-0.99.10-5.spec

Did that:

bash-2.00# rpm -bp --test gimp-0.99.10.spec
rpm: --test may only be specified during package installation and uninstallation

That error message is contrary to the man page. I just _love_ Redhat.

bash-2.00# rpm -bp gimp-0.99.10.spec
* Package: gimp
* Package: gimp-devel
* Package: gtk
* Package: gtk-devel
missing source or patch: /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/gimp-%{PACKAGE_VERSION}.tar.gz
Build failed.
bash-2.00# rpm --version
RPM version 2.2.2
bash-2.00#

Probably this is fixed in more recent versions of rpm. I'll stick to
Debian which has readable (and command-line executable!) scripts, thanks.

Steve
