You're neglecting the last 1000 years of history.  Today's banking
system works well.  It's really easy to see just how bad it could be,
and you don't even have to look back 1000 days let alone 1000 years to
see some of the worst examples.  Just look at cryptoasset markets and

True, it could work significantly better, but the reason it doesn't is
people like us bitch on TLUG but don't bust our butts keeping
plutocrat collaborators (you know of whom I write, don't you?) and
fascists (ditto) out of office.

I don't hold it against anyone.  We all have lives to live and the
system is tolerable for us.  We can't do it alone, and grass roots
organizing is really hard, especially for abstract ideas like "1%
remittance fees".  But I'm going to do what I can in absentia (only a
few days left to US Labor Day and traditional campaign kickoffs!)
