That's true -- I won't publicly admit how long one of my masks is lasting.  :-P

But that was also for practical reasons.  Many people here spend hours
per day scouring Facebook for stores (and some less scrupulous
establishments) that were selling masks.  I don't think I have that
many hours in a day.  Many people would run to a line-up only to miss
out on the few they had for sale.  Things are better now.

And just yesterday, I read on BBC that a security guard in Michigan
was shot (and killed) for asking someone to wear a mask [1].  On the
same day, CNN mentioned that a US park ranger was pushed into the
water while asking people to social distance themselves [2].

Of course, it's not about masks.  It's quite reasonable for an
establishment to ask you to wear a suit / dress at their fancy
restaurant.  Or to be quiet in a cinema or a library.  And it isn't
about guns...surely if the security guard was beaten up or stabbed, it
would be equally wrong.

It's just all quite disturbing to see where freedom could lead.  Of
course, this was going on long before the pandemic and not just the
USA.
