That's true -- I won't publicly admit how long one of my masks is lasting. :-P But that was also for practical reasons. Many people here spend hours per day scouring Facebook for stores (and some less scrupulous establishments) that were selling masks. I don't think I have that many hours in a day. Many people would run to a line-up only to miss out on the few they had for sale. Things are better now. > On 2020-05-03 14:29 -0400 (Sun), Scott Robbins wrote: > > Well, here in the US, the country that elected Trump, people are > > responding as he would, threatening store employees who ask that > > they wear masks. > Right. Get with the > American programme! :-( And just yesterday, I read on BBC that a security guard in Michigan was shot (and killed) for asking someone to wear a mask [1]. On the same day, CNN mentioned that a US park ranger was pushed into the water while asking people to social distance themselves [2]. Of course, it's not about masks. It's quite reasonable for an establishment to ask you to wear a suit / dress at their fancy restaurant. Or to be quiet in a cinema or a library. And it isn't about guns...surely if the security guard was beaten up or stabbed, it would be equally wrong. It's just all quite disturbing to see where freedom could lead. Of course, this was going on long before the pandemic and not just the USA.
