Carefull here, although it bears the same name it is not quite the same.
In the US you can put your work under public domain, meaning that anyone
has the right to do anything with that work. This is not the same as
the copyright (or authors right, depending on the country) being expired.

As far as i know, the UK does not allow to put your own work under public
domain.... But i might be mistaken... As usual: IANAL applies.
