Okay, so basically, backing up the files directly from the MySQL data
directory is a last resort kind of thing, and the better option is to
take a MySQL dump frequently.

I was assuming a satellite link between the server bunker in
Longyearbyen and the cafe on the tropical coast of the Weddell Sea where
I'm getting free WiFi with my non-fat, double-isotope latte. After all,
ARPANET was specifically designed to survive a nuclear attack, wasn't it?
