Yes, that's what I meant. I boot into runlevel three and have a little
script to choose which window manager I'll use.

However, like Ubuntu, at login you should have an option to choose your
session.

I blush to admit I'm not really familiar with .xsession. Still, this is
a bit strange. If you have fvwm installed, it should see it.

AHH---did you install from an rpm or from source? That could be the
issue, the rpm probably does something to register with Gnome.

I can try this over the weekend on an F11 install I have. I *am* sure
that at least once I installed, taking defaults, (meaning booting into
GDM) and later installed fluxbox. Afterwards, at login, I was able to
choose fluxbox. I would think you'd be able to choose fvwm from
available sessions. If I understand this now, when you click options or
whatever it's called, and go to sessions, fvwm isn't available.

That is, as I said, somewhat peculiar. It's getting late here, but
tomorrow, I'll play with that F11 (Rawhide) install that I have and see
if I can duplicate it.

Quick PS--I know you prefer well trimmed posts, but I really wasn't sure
what to leave out.

Maybe he didn't know that you can do that on Fedora as well.

Ok, I just booted this F11 into GDM. It's giving me the options of
default (Gnome) Fluxbox, or KDE. One other new decision of Fedora's is
that you can no longer do ctl+alt+F1 to get to a console, GDM is on 1,
you have to go to 2.

So, it shows all window managers that I have available on the system as
options.
