Does anyone know of a mailing list software that can be used with a
web-interface for following and answering to threads as well?
Just curious; what's your use case for this? What about it appeals to
you over just using your mail reader? Is this for just your own access,
or do you want random people to be able to come to the site and reply to
messages?
We asked the same questions three years ago. :) On OpenSolaris we've been using Jive as our forum software with a gateway to Mailman. In three years I can't think of one issue we've had with Mailman, but Jive has been one problem after another. And Jive is closed so you can't just go in and fix it. Anyway, we are looking for a replacement because there is a portion of our community that seems intent on posting via the web forums (although the core developers use their mail clients, of course). Initially, we were worried about too many random people coming by and too much spam, but we've also met a lot of new people this way as well. We just need to find a better solution than Jive, though.
