That's the only sensible thing to do. $TERM is for the client, not the server. If you're using Eterm on Linux, Decterm on Solaris, *expect* it to lose. Those terminal emulators suck badly and suffer from NIH. Plain vanilla xterm, kterm or Konsole should work just fine. -sb
