[tlug] HAL Failed to initialize

TLUG,

For the last couple of days, when I've rebooted, I've received the 
following error after logging in:

HAL Failed to initialize.

I looked up on the web, and this page had some advice:

I tried to do the following:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure hal
 * Stopping Hardware abstraction layer hald  OK ]
 * Reloading system message bus config...   [ OK ]
 * Starting Hardware abstraction layer hald [ OK ]

But, still, when I reboot, I get the same error message.

Any ideas what I should do next?
