You know how M-DEL works for paths in XEmacs? I want zsh to do that
for M-DEL, but preserve the current C-w behaviour as well.

So I can do this:

xemacs /usr/portage/app-editors/xemacs/
M-DEL
xemacs /usr/portage/app-editors/

*and* this:

xemacs /usr/portage/app-editors/xemacs/
C-w
xemacs

Got it?
