Yes, I will give it another shot when I can > find the time. > <snip> I'm currently using OOO 2.3.1 (app-office/openoffice-bin-2.3.1) with scim (app-i18n/scim-1.4.5-r1) and anthy (app-i18n/anthy-9100 + app-i18n/scim-anthy-1.2.4) in Gentoo without any problems. The key was having a LC_* setting that included utf (en_AU.UTF-8 in my case). I haven't had a problem with the binaries and Japanese input since 2.0 Emerging OOO from source just takes too long (24-36 hours even with gcc-cache) Cheers Stu
