It bothers me a lot (although I agree with Bart that をほしい is the
scariest).

I feel it has something to do with my almost complete lack of 常識.
When so much of everyday Japanese depends on knowing how the sentence
is going to end before the person starts to utter it, loss of the few
reliable clues to logical relationships is painful.
