Stuart, that makes me cry.

Why do you dislike sudo?

One of the huge advantages for me is that I can give my wife sudo
access to do a few things she needs to, but disallow "raw" root
access, which could be potentially dangerous, as my wife is not a Unix
expert.

And as a sysadmin, sudo is a lifesaver. Whenever I prepend sudo to a
command, I double- and triple-check that bastard. And I also find that
the fewer things done as root, the better. e.g. you don't need to be
root to compile a kernel, if you simply chgrp -R wheel /usr/src/linux.
