Especially the file system. "Tiger" is perceptibly faster than "Panther", but HFS+ is still dog-slow compared to any real *nix FS. Do the new Macs still use HFS+? I suppose they must.... The other thing is that it's really unfair to compare a heavily- threaded single CPU system with a heavily-threaded dual CPU system. I'm waiting for Opteron-based Macs ... now, *that* should scream. ;-)
