Evan, TLUG,

No, wait, disregard my last message. I realized I had mis-read part of 
Evan's posting.

The short story is that I have been able to gain administrative control 
- or at least it looks that way - by following Evan's directions.

But...

Although I can now click the green "Start Printer" button and the 
printer starts, any attempt to print a test page causes the printer to 
go back to stopped status again.

This is in-line with problems I was having earlier in the thread.

So I guess it turns out that the new CUPS updates haven't actually 
changed anything after all.

Oh well. Back to the waiting game.
