The problem would appear to be the proprietary Canon driver having problems with the newer glib? wont you need to revert the glib and cups to get it working? If this is the case, and considering the incomparability between the glib versions it would not be a good idea to try reverting packages ( i.e. you might end up fixing cups and killing other random packages that rely on the newer glib).
