I know how to use vi (yes, even hjkl navigation!), but because I spend
most of my time on my own system, it makes _lots_ of sense for me to
use something I can tweak as much as I want. <grin>
I like vi for quick edits, but I love my Planner too much to give up
my Emacs forever. <grin>

Try C-h C-t to get the tutorial. (Also available from the Help menu.)
There are many vi emulation modes, but Emacs-as-Emacs isn't actually
that hard to get used to. =)
