For Debian, two links, both of which a Debian (and its offshoots) using
friend found quite helpful.

Another one that the friend found quite useful (though he comments that
it's for a previous version of Ubuntu)

Lastly, what he described as short, sweet and newer

As Ubuntu and Mepis are based on Deb, he said that they worked perfectly
for him.
