And it could be read as "looking for someone with deep experience working with open source, Unix/Linux and C". I recently built up a team of programmers for a telecom VoIP project developing high-performance embedded network applications on Linux in C and C++. It was very hard to find people with the depth of experience. Lots of people had studied C or C++ in college or did Windows GUI development in C++ and thought they knew it, but didn't. The last ten years has seen the birth of web development in scripting languages, Java, etc. Most people have gotten "distracted", and it is rare to find someone who has focused on this kind of development, at least in Taiwan. I met plenty of people with 10 years experience who were experts, more or less, in Java J2EE, but that is not really the same skillset. It is a different world when you take one step closer to the metal. Of course, it doesn't take 10 years of study to get there, but the people who are already making good money doing Java are not going to able to do it without a fair amount of effort. The guys coming from embedded systems programming are a bit better, but they are still not used to building big systems. Jake
