I know that some of their (now former) developers knew I18N very well and contributed greatly to getting things right in some external projects. Whether that involved internal patches as well I don't know, the cases I know about were more on the lines of reviewing developments and commenting on I18N impacts. But putting together a system from all externally developed parts so that it installs and runs in a locale other than POSIX is a useful contribution, although it cannot be easily ported even to other Linux distros. cs> I was going to check ftp.turbolinux.co.jp for the latest cs> version of pine-jp to make my point, but I saw this: Pine-JP is an abomination, and wouldn't help to make any point ;-) More seriously, because of the UDub policies on Pine development, it's not a good example. That would be hard to contribute to no matter how you look at it. -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
