Fax software

  Hi,

  I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get Silicon Graphics'
HylaFAX package set up and working, but, alas, without success. It looks it
should be a nice, full-featured, well-documented (great hypertext) package,
but it's not much good if it doesn't run!

  There's a Linux binary, which installs just by unpacking the tar.gz file.
However, when you try to run any of the programs they complain like this:
     /usr/local/bin/sendfax: can't load library 'libg++.so.27'
Ok, well my library is called libg++.so.2.7.0 . Sounds close enough, so I
make a link to it from ...so.27 . No go! Now we can't resolve the references.

  Fortunately, the source is available at the same URL,
     ftp://ftp.sgi.com/sgi/fax/
so I tried compiling it. Everything is very well set up, all nicely
automated, but the compile fails to produce some of the key executables.
At this point I give up.

  Anybody else had better luck? This looks like it's worth a little hassle
(if necessary) to get going. But I'm open to alternate suggestions too.
