[Lingo] 死ぬわけでもなし

I'm trying to read a Manga called FruitsBasket and hit the
phrase 死ぬわけでもなし.

It's all over the web but I can't seem to translate it.  The
words look to me like:
死ぬ: to die
わけ: conclusion
でも: but
なし: without

The english version of the manga has "What difference will
one more make?"　for this phrase.　I think it's a fixed
phrase of some kind, but it makes no sense to me.  What is
going on here??
