If NEC's 1000LW series is so-called "MultiWriter" series, then
they seem to be OEM from OkiData (Okipage 8w). And from printer
compatibility list in Printing-HOWTO, it's said:

    Paperweight - Okipage 8w

meaning it works as nothing but a paperweight :-(.
