    Drago> Stephen, have you heard of mew? Check out

Yes. I've read the both the Lisp and the Perl code (about 50%, and a
much earlier version, admittedly, but these things tend to get worse,
not better, over time) and didn't trust it.

Several people on this list use Mew; it's probably pretty good for
Japanese. But I don't recommend things unless I like them, and
preferably use them. I just don't mention them. Unless asked.

You asked.  :-/

Oh, and in this particular case, where Stuart is stuck with a possibly
munged mail file, one had better know the internals pretty well;
reading the RMAIL file with VM will probably result in near-100%
recovery of all data, and what VM doesn't recover will have already
been corrupted. VM will not corrupt any existing data unless
specifically requested to do so. I can say that with confidence
because I know how VM operates on mail folders. Ditto Gnus.

Can you say the same for Mew?

You mean the "Prohibitively Encoded Retrograde Language"? :-)

That's a minus, IMO. And only my opinion, again. That bears mostly
on what I will recommend, not on what other people should use.
