Thanks a lot to all who responded! > The problem can be with either the heads *or* the media. Unfortunatley according to the tests the drive is at fault as well, and I had hoped for the cartridge only ... =-( Now I will see whether I can get a free replacement from Iomega as they mention on the site is possible regardless of warranty ... Just that I don't think I will stand 40 min. waiting at the telephone as seems to be neccessary in some cases. > I also use an MO, and I'm sure you'll get responses from a bunch of people > recommending that. The advantage of an MO is that you can put an ext2 > filesystem on it and use it as just another part of your filesystem (like > the zip), whereas (if I understand correctly) CD RW has to be written from > start to finish off of a filesystem image kept on your hard disk. Is this correct? I think I remeber a discussion about this a while ago, but unfortunately with my zip-disk also my private tlug-archive has gone, and my search in the archives for "CD" returned "no match for 'CD'". What could it be that I am doing wrong? I did switch to "any" in the "Match"-field. Again, thanks a lot to everybody who responded!
